Deconstructing Dad Podcast

In this episode, Ginger scars his son, whom he thought was sleeping in the backseat, but apparently was wide awake and getting a life lesson from an Eminem Song. Dan becomes a Home Depot-Set Building-Theater Dad. We read about a mother who gets pulled over for drunk driving but denies ever having a drink… until her frightened unbuckled young son tells the truth from the backseat. 

We also share a Top 10 list of Hardships we’ve had as single fathers. 

In this thought to be lost forever pre-christmas episode, Dan and Ginger discuss the holidays and upcoming plans, the adorble cutness of childrens school christmas concerts and how that wears off. Dan also looks back at a time in his youth when he was part of a championship football team and contemplates making a documentary… once he comes into some money that is. 

In this ep, the great and powerful dads return to discuss one tik tok-er’s unique way of living unblended while another one demands that all men in basements get their microphones revoked! 

Dan has had it up to hear with parents weaponizing their children. Off with the dead beat dad’s heads. 

Ginger’s health has taken a surprising turn. Two words, “Heart Attack”? Maybe it’s not that bad? Maybe he’s in denial?

Wrapping up our second day of Podtoberfest. The final hour and half of it all, The Maier’s (Chris and Kristen), from How Was Your Week Honey join us to not really discuss parenting as much as we discuss things because we are parents. 

In what starts out as a great weekend for Ginger, a surprise birthday party, attending a post pandemic concert (is it post?), and family photo’s, suddenly turns into one bad thing after another! One kid takes a trip to the hospital, another gets in a bad car wreck while another decided Covid is what the house was missing. All of this and sooooo much more. 

Dan finally lands a beauty and feels blessed. We discuss how odd it is to be with someone that’s actually supportive and that darn Elf on the shelf gets brought up, so does a family vacation and we wrap things up with Dan’s kid struggling with his decision to sell the family home for a home without a breeze because of better insulation and of course a better school district.

Dan is thinking about getting a Vasectomy. Jay recently got one. What better time than now then to relive the horror of it all. We’re 6 weeks out since Jay had one, so after dropping off his sample he shares the good the bad and the very ugly of it all. 

We are also both in relationships. We’ve got kids. They’ve got kids. Small discussions have begun, in different ways, of how we are going about blending our families.

Blogger Tom Briggs best known from his Diary of the Dad Blog, joins Dan and Ginger to discuss fatherhood. Are things done differently across da pond? What’s it like managing a successful #DadBlog, especially once it becomes your main job. We recall the days of getting grounded as kids and getting the cable TV taken away. Now when we ground our kids, you have to amputate them!
